Would you hike The Narrows during rainy season?! 😅 We did, and it was an incredible experience. Were the waters clear and rocks easy to see? No way. In fact every step was a mystery. It was still really doable though (and the kids loved every second of it)! We didn’t rent any waders or special shoes or sticks. Dad did bring his trekking poles since he had a backpack child carrier on w/ 30 extra lbs. But frankly, we didn’t think any of that extra rental stuff was necessary. A luxury? Sure. But mission critical? Nah. We highly recommend this adventure, we’ll definitely be doing it again! There’s nothing like The Narrows in Zion National Park!

#sanddunes #nationalparks #rvlife #familytravel #randomNothing like a little monkeying around! 🐒 We love stopping at zoos on our trips. The parking is always great (if a school bus can fit, we can too!), the snacks are good, and the entertainment is WILD! 😜

If you’ve ever explored the ruins of Rhyolite Ghost Town right outside of Death Valley, you’ve definitely seen this incredible Spanish-style building. But its story is a wild ride of boom, bust, and reinvention.

Built in 1908 at the absolute peak of the Bullfrog Gold Rush, this structure was actually the Las Vegas & Tonopah Train Depot. The town thought it was destined to become a permanent desert metropolis. Instead, the gold dried up, and by 1914, the last train steamed out of town.

Instead of letting it crumble, an entrepreneur bought the abandoned station in 1935. By 1937, it officially opened as the “Rhyolite Ghost Casino,” complete with a bustling bar and slot machines for early Death Valley tourists. Rumor has it the second story—the old railroad offices—doubled as an unapproved upstairs brothel! 🤫

Today, the building is protected by the BLM, standing as a beautiful, eerie monument to Nevada’s wild history.
